Our annual Halloween Havoc is just around the corner!
Festivities kick off next weekend, on the morning of Thursday, October 29. We've got lots of stuff lined up this year, including the traditional pumpkin cannon contests, pk and monster arena battles. The main event storyline runs through Saturday, with other events planned through Sunday. To finish things off, we'll be opening a new high level area near the end of festivities.
For up-to-date information and schedules, check the in-game 'show event' commands. We hope to see you there!

Pumpkin canon contest? How on earth does that work? Can't wait.
They've been doing it for a few years now. You talk to the operator and he asks if you want to participate. Once you agree, he explains the rules and tells you to let him know when you're ready. When you tell him you are, the pressure in the cannon builds. You have to time it and say a word in order to make him trigger the cannon. The instant you say the word, he fires the cannon. The idea is to try and shoot a pumpkin as far as you can (max pressure); if the pressure gets too high, the cannon vents its steam and resets, so the idea is that you hit the highest possible pressure (plus or minus a tiny bit of variation I'm sure) before it vents.
Just a sorta-silly RNG sort of game, really, but at least they dressed it up a little.
